Dr. Peterson has been in the health and wellness field for the past 20 years. As a professor at the University of Delaware, and active consultant in the area of organizational and employee health, Michael has worked with numerous organizations in improving both the health of the business and the health of the people who work there. He uses his background in Business Management, Health Promotion, and Behavioral Medicine to help both employees and organizations manage stress, improve health, and improve their culture. Dr. Peterson has extensive experience in worksite health promotion, health behavior change, cultural assessment, health and the media, and health communication. As a sought after speaker, he has conducted numerous presentations, and workshops; and has consulted with a variety of organizations throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South America.
His presentations are filled with real life examples, stories, and the latest scientific information that makes for an energetic and highly beneficial experience. He helps people really understand what is relevant in the health media, and how to become more media literate. His expertise has been recognized by Thomas Jefferson University, where he was named a Senior Scholar and a member of their graduate faculty; Lluminari Inc, a national health and media firm, where he serves as a national expert in healthy living, stress management, work and health, and health communication; as well as the University of Delaware, where he founded the graduate health promotion program which has trained scores of health professionals.
Some of his recent work has involved developing and running a statewide health promotion program entitled “Get Up And Do Something;” assessing the differences between what men and women value at work, looking at how people view celebrities and their health; and identifying the workplace stress factors and cultural elements that really help promote worker health and improve companies.
