Travels From:

Murray has been a speaker and trainer for 25 years. His presentations focus on our lifestyle and its impact on leadership and work performance. And he knows something about performance… he is an honored educator and a World Champion athlete.

Armed with a Masters Degree and passion for teaching, Murray was an educator at every level from grade school to graduate school in the ‘70’s & early ‘80’s. He was honored for his teaching and coaching, culminating with Vermont’s Teacher of the Year and the national Outstanding Educator awards.

At the same time he was achieving educational honors, he was winning his first of four national championships in the triathlon. In 1984, he took a sabbatical from teaching to pursue an advanced degree in educational leadership, write a textbook and focus on training for the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Hawaii. Two times he has been one of the top finishers in the Triathlon World Championship. More recently, racing the top skiers from Europe and Scandinavia, Murray won the Masters World Championship in crosscountry skiing.

Murray’s presentations are a blend of engaging stories, humorous anecdotes and hilarious visuals. His highly successful first career as an educator, and then world class athlete, has enabled him to combine the best of both… an engaging presentation style centered on the audience, with the clarity and focus of a world champion athlete Murray lives in the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont, home of the world’s best maple syrup and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. He and his wife Janie have been married 39 years and enjoy hiking and skiing in the mountains surrounding their rustic home in the shadow of Mt Mansfield.

Murray’s presentations for business leaders are the perfect blend of inspiration and fun. His skills as an honored educator and his focus as a world champion athlete are obvious in his presentation style… engaging, humorous, motivational and focused!

His signature topics, Performance Under Pressure and The Trouble With The Future Is, It’s Not What It Used To Be, connect work and leadership performance to focus, mindset, adaptability and balance in our lives.

You will never get a “canned speech” with Murray. He will research your organization, speak with your planning team and customize the presentation integrating your goals and theme with his message.

Programs:

PERFORMANCE UNDER PRESSURE Quality In Our Work, Balance In Our Lives:

We all love to work with energetic, positive, hard working people… problem is, these are the very qualities that disappear under pressure! Murray’s presentation will give us four skills for being at our best every day and spreading it to others. Skills to stay positive and focused under pressure and take care of ourselves so we can take care of business.

Murray will mix research with hilarious visuals and practical examples to zero in on how to keep our lives in balance so we can perform well under pressure. And he knows something about pressure… His enthralling stories of high altitude mountaineering and world championship racing are wonderfully integrated with practical skills for maintaining optimism when we would rather be cynical, eating smart & staying fit when time is tight, and staying balanced and focused when the pressure is on.

THE TROUBLE WITH THE FUTURE IS.... IT’S NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE! Keeping Our Focus In Times Of Change:

In a world of change, most of us like stability and consistency. But in today’s world, evolution and innovation reign and our work requires constant adaptation. Murray leaves organizational change to the consultants… this presentation is all about our personal skills for being agile and resilient in challenging times. You will love his description of change resistant colleagues and why we need to preach the “Lava Lamp Philosophy” daily; his “10/90 Rule” will help you keep meetings focused on solutions rather than issues; he’ll show us how to prevent “Group Griping” at the coffee pot and then drive home the point that our optimism, adaptability and proactive mindset are the models our colleagues will follow… even those with “Psychosclerosis.” Only Murray can make a presentation on change hilarious, inspirational and packed with practical skills.
